Due to a February snow storm, the annual Foreign Language Fair at Bureau Valley High School moves to a spring slot on the school calendar this year. On Thursday, April 25th, the Spanish and German Clubs host an evening of food and fun! Attendees can learn the Maypole Dance, hit the free craft tables, and pick a country flag at the face painting station. The fair which starts at 4:00 p.m. in the commons.
Food buffets include chicken fajitas, tacos, brats and hot dogs, along with traditional side dishes. Meals cost $5, but items are available a la cart, and food buffets are open until 6:00 p.m. Desserts and drinks are also available.
The event focuses on being family-friendly, and provides a variety of activities. A group of students perform a skit with a Spanish speaking narrator, and German Club displays two of its new flow-through composting bins. Interviews with exchange student families bring the benefits and challenges of living and studying in a new country to light.
