July 15th, 2021
Dear Storm Students, Staff, and Families,
With deep sadness, I inform you about a tragic accident that has resulted in a significant loss in our schools and our community. This morning, a Bureau Valley student died in a car accident.
Our district is committed to doing everything we can to help our students with the grieving and healing process. To that end, we have activated our crisis counseling team to be at our school today, July 15th, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and tomorrow, Friday, July 16th, from 8:00 AM-Noon. Students may visit a counselor in person or complete the form below for the counselor to follow up with them.
This loss will affect everyone in our school family and the Bureau Valley Community. Students may have a difficult time dealing with the loss, and we encourage parents to talk with their child(ren) and for students to seek help if needed.
At this time, the district will not be releasing the student’s name out of respect for the privacy of the family. I know you join me in extending our heartfelt condolences to all of the family involved. If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to us or one of the counselors by contacting the school at 815-445-4004 or clicking on this form.
Sincerely,
Jason R. Stabler, Superintendent
