The purpose of this award is to honor two exceptional students from Bureau Valley. These students exemplify qualities that reflect what Bureau Valley values the most. Good job Stone & Libby!! Congratulations to the 2023 BVJH Geography bee finalists. 6th grade: Kylie Endress, and Alexander Nally, 7th grade: Caitlyn Egan, Damon Lyford, and Joseph Siri, 8th grade: Alex Attig, Tyler Donnelley, Libby Endress, Garrett Gross, Lucas Hartz, Marek Johnson, Aiden Litherland, Stone Sabin, and Ashten Salzmann.
These students are the winners of the classroom Geography bee. They are now finalist for the Bureau Valley Junior High Geography Bee. It will be held on Friday, January 27, at 11:00 in the Bureau Valley Auditorium in Manlius.

Students in Mrs. Kuelper’s fifth grade science class are learning about ecosystems and food webs. Students had to match the animal to their ecosystem. They also had to complete a food chain for a forest, ocean, and rainforest.





Thank you to Central Bank Illinois, Bureau Valley Boosters, Justin York, and Bureau Valley 340 for helping getting the Robotics team to State comfortably in a charter bus. Both Storm Bot teams are so grateful! (Along with the coaches and families.) Go STORM!

A few important announcements regarding our junior high sports teams.
1) The 6th grade game scheduled for February 2nd at LaSalle has moved to Bureau Valley due to our Heart Awareness Night. We want all teams to be involved on our special night. The 6th grade game will begin at 4:00 with the 7th and 8th grade games to follow. That will also be 8th grade recognition night as well.
2) Our 8th grade boys basketball team has been seeded 5th in their regional and will travel to Rockridge High School on January 28th to play Aledo Mercer County at 10:30AM!

Bureau Valley Elementary Schools are excited for the second year of our district-wide book club called One School, One Book. Today all elementary students were fortunate enough to magically find out their book would be Kenny & the Dragon by Tony DiTerlizzi. Thank you to our guest magician who revealed our book for this year.
Each family will once again be receiving their own copy of the book and will be asked to read the story together at home over the next six weeks. Let's enjoy the book for the next six weeks together!

Mrs. DeMay’s 6th grade science class identified igneous rocks today! They determined the name, intrusive or extrusive, and the type of lava/magma the rocks came from!!





BVJH Volleyball is going to be hosting a Heart Health Awareness night on February 2, 2023! Keep a look out for a shirt order! Come enjoy a fun night for a great cause! There will be a silent auction, chuck a duck, baked goods and others!! All proceeds will be going to the American Heart Association.

The Bureau Valley Junior High Volleyball Team will be having a Heart Awareness Night on February 2nd at their game vs LaSalle that will start at 4:30. Ms. Haley’s 7th grade SEL class acted out their emotions today. The students did a great job acting, directing, and creating their skits!

The 3rd-5th grade students in Manlius created solar updraft towers to learn more about the transformation of solar energy to electrical energy.




It was a successful day as we had our second quarter incentive. Volleyball tournament with a staff team along with a movie in the auditorium. Hard work pays off! Way to go Storm!





Mrs. Bell’s 4th grade class studied tribes in different regions of the United States. They created a poster and a project to represent their region.
