Today the Bureau Valley Life Skills students enjoyed a shopping trip to Wal-Mart. The students practiced using a shopping list, navigating the store, finding the items they needed, completing transactions with the cashier, and spreading smiles!
The students used their items to create root beer floats and s'mores in celebration of one of our student's birthdays today!
It was a little rainy for our trip, but we hope the joy of our students can spread your way and light up your day!

Yesterday, members of the Manlius Fire Department stopped by BVHS to accept a check for $1,765, all raised through our Hat Day last Friday!
Even better, these funds will be shared among FIVE fire departments within the Bureau Valley School District, supporting the men and women who give their time to serve and protect our communities.
A HUGE thank you to our students, staff, families, and everyone who contributed to Hat Day. What started with wearing a hat to school turned into $1,765 going right back into our communities! And to our local firefighters and first responders: THANK YOU for everything you do for the BV community!

From the Drone Zone with SweetWater Technologies, to Protect + Serve with the Bureau County Sheriff's Dept. and Princeton Police Dept., Forged in Manufacturing with Sauk Valley Manufacturing, and our MANY partners in our College, Career, and Military Fair, our students will get to connect with people doing the work, ask questions, and learn about opportunities available to them.
Most of all, a HUGE thank you to every college, business, organization, first responder, military representative, and community partner taking time out of their day to be here for our students. We are incredibly grateful for the number of people willing to show up, share their experiences, and invest in our BVHS students and their futures!💙⚡️
