It's May Storm fans! Kicking off the last month of the school year with this week's BVHS Staff Spotlight is Ms. Chan. She and her students have been awfully busy lately bringing the community some terrific performances. We are glad to have her at Bureau Valley!

Bureau Valley High School was proud to represent at the Poetry Appreciation through Recitation contest this year. Four schools competed this year, with each student performing two memorized poems. This is a competition that encourages students to develop their public speaking skills, memorization, and creativity through expression. Our poets, Jaden Kraft and Autumn Roth, both did a splendid job! Congratulations to Autumn Roth for placing as the runner up!

"The most important tribute any human being can pay to a poem they really love is to learn it by heart. Not by brain, by heart; the expression is vital." - George Steiner

The Bureau Valley Ag Department said “see you later” to a very special part of our program today. Miss Merriman finished student teaching after a fantastic semester here at BV.

Throughout her time with us, Miss Merriman has built meaningful relationships with students, brought energy and enthusiasm into the classroom, and made a lasting impact on our program. She has touched the lives of so many students through her encouragement, patience, and passion for agriculture education.

Miss Merriman will graduate in May from Illinois State University and will be starting the ag program at Rock Falls this fall. We are excited to see all that she will accomplish in her own classroom.

We are grateful for the time, effort, and heart she poured into Bureau Valley. She will be greatly missed.
