Dear BV Parents/Guardians, While we are still working to determine the circumstances for the beginning of the school year, we would like to help facilitate the registration process to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible. Online registration for the 20/21 school year began on July 9th and Bureau Valley CUSD #340 is still strongly recommending online registration due to the health considerations of all involved. However, there are still certain forms that will need to be printed and either turned in, or mailed, to your child’s school depending on the grade levels of your children. Online registration will stay open until July 31st. In-Person Registration will be structured differently this year due to the health and safety guidelines we are currently under. -In-person registration will be offered by appointment only during the week of July 27th - July 31st in each school building: Wyanet PreK-2, Walnut PreK-5, and Manlius 3-8 and 9-12. -Secretaries will be available to set up appointments starting July 20th. Please call each of your children’s buildings to set up an appointment. -Appointment Schedule: Monday, July 27th 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28th 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29th 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30th 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 31st 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. -Completed forms and fee payments may be dropped off during any of these designated times using a drop box inside the main entrance of each school. Please be sure to drop forms and checks at the building your child attends. As always thank you for your continued understanding and flexibility. Yours in Education, BV Admin Team

April 17, 2020 Dear Storm Families and Staff, Today, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced the end of in-person learning for the 2019-20 school year. This news is disheartening since we had held hope that we could reunite students and teachers in our schools; however, we value and respect the highest priority of keeping all members of the Bureau Valley family safe and healthy as we band together to stop the spread of this virus. As we move forward with the governor’s decision, Bureau Valley schools will continue to use Remote Learning policies and procedures that have been developed and implemented since April 1st. This learning plan will continue through May 21st, though there will be no Remote Learning on the following weekdays: April 27th, May 11th, and May 22nd. In addition to measures for Remote Learning, food services will continue to be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays through May 20th, including on non-Remote Learning days. These meals can be collected from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same locations in our communities that we’ve been using. The Bureau Valley administrative team knows you likely have many questions and concerns at this time, many of which we also have now. We will continue working hard to determine and communicate solutions that focus on our top priorities: maintaining safety for all, supplying meals for students, and providing meaningful learning opportunities. The decisions may take some time as we await further guidance from the government, health agencies, and the Illinois State Board of Education. Therefore, we appreciate your patience and understanding while we strive to provide a successful path that focuses on the best interests of the students, families, and staff members. Sincerely, The Bureau Valley CUSD #340 Administrative Team

In an effort to obey the Governor’s “Stay at Home” order and practice social distancing, we will now ONLY be distributing meals on Mondays and Wednesdays during the school closure. This plan will go into effect on Monday, April 6th. These FREE meals will be provided for children ages 18 and younger, or others who are currently enrolled at Bureau Valley CUSD #340. Families will be provided with lunch and breakfast meals via curbside service to span the entire week. If distribution days and times were to change due to the fluidity of the situation, district administration will provide notification to all community members. WHERE AND WHEN CAN I PICK UP THESE MEALS? Buda - Bus Stop (Younggren Center) Manlius - High School Front Door Sheffield - Bus Stop (United Church of Christ) Walnut - Elementary School a.m. parent drop off circle Wyanet - Elementary School a.m. parent drop off circle WHEN CAN I PICK UP THESE MEALS? March 31, 2020 Dear Storm Families and Staff, On Tuesday, March 31st, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued an extension of his “Stay-at-Home” order for the entire state, which started Saturday, March 21, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. The order has now been extended through the end of April. This order essentially commands residents to stay in their homes as the officials take measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Residents can still shop for groceries, put gas in their cars, take walks outside, and collect prescriptions from pharmacies. All local roads, including the interstate highways and tollways, will remain open to traffic, as well. Under the governor’s directive, schools will continue to be closed and use Remote Learning through Thursday, April 30th. Schools will tentatively reopen Friday, May 1st unless otherwise mandated by the governor, Illinois State Board of Education, or local health agencies. This mandated closure also extends the canceling of all school activities and events, including sports, meetings, etc. Food services will continue to be available during the school closure. For more information on Food Distribution, please read our Meal Distribution Information. Our District has worked extremely hard to prepare Remote Learning opportunities for the students in order to maintain a continuity of education. Each building is unique; therefore, you will receive or have already received directions on how to access your child’s materials either online or by paper, depending on your preferred method of delivery. Teachers have and will continue to develop learning activities that are engaging and meaningful, not work that may add additional stress for students and families. And, to ensure that these tasks can be accomplished successfully by all students, teachers will be available via email to answer questions related to all coursework. Since we understand that this time may be difficult for some families and will require all to be flexible, we will also have school counselors available to help navigate students and families through these stressful changes; if needed, please contact your school or visit the counseling resources provided on the district’s webpage. It is with the guidance and mandates of state officials that we work to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of the Bureau Valley family. We strongly encourage our population to follow the advice of officials in an effort to stop the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. This is a new experience for all of us. We thank you in advance for your patience and support while we move through these unchartered waters together. Sincerely, The Bureau Valley CUSD #340 Administrative Team
