
Mrs. Kuelper’s fifth grade social studies class learned about different Native American groups this week. The students enjoyed playing an American Indian game called Man and Snake.






Students are "Giving Gratitude" during November in SEL. Be on the lookout for decorated coffee sleeves at Parlor Coffee & Cream and Cows Coffee. The students are excited to see their work in the community and spread kindness and gratitude!



Today 7A used the microwave for more than just reheating food, they made rice crispy treats using the microwave today!!

7th Grade Ag students are floral designers in training! Students learned about the principles of floral design, then put their skills to the test!
Be sure to attend the BV FFA Community Thanksgiving next Wednesday (11/15) to come check out their floral centerpieces, enjoy delish food, and learn the journey our food takes to arrive on our plates!

We had a great night celebrating two close games as our 7th grade closed out their season, and our 8th graders celebrated 8th grade night! The 8th grade will not finish their non-conference opponents and then start play in the IESA regional with only 1 loss on the season. Good luck Ladies!

The Bureau Valley Elementary in Manlius would like to invite all veterans to our annual Veteran's Day Assembly on Friday, November 10th. It will take place in the Bureau Valley Auditorium at 1:00PM. 4th grade is reading about heroes. Today's text discussed smokejumpers fighting forest fires. Former BV graduate, Mike Bill, visited the class via Zoom to share about his career as a forester in Missouri and his experiences out west to fight forest fires with smokejumpers.

Kewanee Wethersfield was scheduled to play our 7th/8th grade girls basketball team on Thursday, but recently had a schedule mishap. We now have to move the 7th/8th girls game to Wednesday and our 6th grade boys game to Thursday. So Wednesday and Thursday is as follows:
Wednesday, November 8th: 7th/8th Grade Girls Basketball vs Kewanee Wethersfield @ 5:30 with 8th grade night in between games.
Thursday, November 9th: 6th Grade Boys Basketball vs JFK @ 4:30

In October, Bureau Valley PreK-8th grade staff members wore pink on Mondays and donated money for breast cancer awareness. Together we raised $1,354 this year for The Believe Foundation in Princeton, IL for the amazing work they continue to do for those battling this disease. #BVPRIDE


7A made homemade pancakes in Home Ec, they did a great job!







The sixth grade social studies classes had some famous visitors on Halloween. They were: Cleopatra, Queen Victoria, Mona Lisa, Queen Elizabeth I, Julius Caesar, King Henry VIII, Albert Einstein, and Sherlock Holmes. It was a great opportunity to learn about these famous people in history!



Fourth grade artists have been learning about Dia de los Muertos, sugar skulls, and symmetry with Mrs. Knapp. Students chose someone to honor with their sugar skull, and drew things that they liked on half of the paper, and now they trace their drawing onto the other half.

Junior High PE learns how to take their heart rate then they compare the correlation of intensity to the change of their heart rate in fitness stations.






The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month!! In order to support Breast Cancer Research, Bureau Valley PK-8th staff members wore jeans and pink on Mondays. They donated $5 dollars each week and all proceeds are going to the Believe Foundation in Princeton! Great job Staff!!!


This week Mrs. Platz and Ms. Kluck planned a special faculty meeting to announce this year’s EXEMPLARY Summative Designation to all our BVJH/BVE Staff. This esteemed designation belongs to all our students, staff, and the entire BV Community. To celebrate the exciting news staff members were treated to sparkling cider, sweet treats, trophies, and their own ‘Walk of Fame’ stars. There was also a special video from principal/influencer Gerry Brooks to congratulate everyone at BVJH/BVE on this amazing accomplishment.

Writing and Walking Like an Egyptian! The 6th grade social studies class deciphered each others hieroglyphics of Ancient Egypt. They also learned about Ancient Egyptian Art. The important body parts had to be drawn properly according to Ancient Egyptian artists.
