"Good words are worth much, and cost little" During our last SIP day, students and staff were invited to write encouraging notes to share with the school. Just as our students, we invite you "to take what you need" to hear, whether it be today or any day. #MindfulMonday

The BV Rewards program was created to recognize students for doing the little things that help to build positive school culture. Students are challenged each quarter with goals that include things like getting involved in an extracurricular program, attending a school event, or volunteering for a service project. For each goal a student completes, they receive an entry into our quarterly drawing. These prizes are a small token of appreciation for all the fantastic things our students do to make BV a great place to call home. Winners from our 1st Quarter drawing are: Lexi Butler, Libby Endress, Kate Stoller, Carly Reglin, Jailyn Acosta, Ella Thacker, Maddie Wetzell, & Emily Wright. Congratulations!

🍽️ Intro to Ag - Eat or Be Eaten 🍽️ Did you realize that without producers, such as plants, an entire ecosystem could be destroyed?! Mrs. Shimmin’s Intro to Ag students are taking a deep dive into Food Webs! Students were randomly given secret organisms and had to exchange “energy units” (fuzzies) to simulate the flow of energy through a food web!

🧀 Food Science - This Might be Cheezy 🧀 Did you know not all food claims are regulated by the USDA or FDA? Mrs. Shimmin’s Food Science students are learning about the way food products can make claims such as “Low Sodium”, “High Calcium”, “Made with Real Cheese”, and more! To further reinforce these concepts students made their own Cheez-Its and had to determine what claims they could make about their tasty treat!

🪲PreVet - Response to Environment 🪲 Do you know what a STIMULUS is!? If you guessed it is “a chemical or physical change in the environment that triggers some sort of behavioral change in a living organism.” You were spot on! Students in Pre-Vet are learning about different animal behaviors and how they react to a specific stimulus! Students utilized Pill Bugs to observe how they respond to different changes in their environment or stimuli! We learned they prefer light over dark, they do not mind what color surface they are on, and they prefer the chamber with soil vs. no soil!
