⚾🥎 Double the fun, double the competition! Our softball and baseball teams both take on the JFK Wildcats today. Softball will play them in the SRC semi-finals at Hall High School, while the boys are closing out their season at home! Let’s bring the energy and cheer them on to victory! 💪🔥 Good luck to both teams — we’re proud of you! 🙌

Last week in math, Miss Yepsen's 4th graders got up and moving with a Place Value SCOOT. Students practiced identifying the value of digits, writing numbers in expanded and word form, and comparing numbers at different stations throughout the room.

Mrs. Bell's 4th grade is exploring how eyes work. The students created eye models and saw what the picture looks like on the retina of the eye. They also used glasses to see how it sharpens the picture.

Ms. Haley's 7th grade SEL class focused on problems and problem solving. The students had to try to complete a 100 piece puzzle while working together silently.

Students in Ms. Crabtree's class were detectives in trying to solve this week's Mystery Science Question: What happens to fallen leaves?

Mrs. Hoyt's 7th grade Life Science students are learning about the characteristics of life. In this lab, the students were testing their reflexes to see if they reacted when a cotton ball was thrown at their face with and without warning. (We used a plastic transparent sheet protector so that students weren't actually throwing objects into each other's faces.)

7th graders have been working with integers in math! Some practiced their skills today while playing battleship. Want to challenge your child at home? Mrs. Hartz has extra copies!

We are excited to share that our school will be participating in a Day of Giving this October. Each year, we encourage our students to come together to support an important cause, and this year we will focus on bringing awareness to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Bureau Valley's own Grady Gustafson has designed a pink breast cancer awareness shirt that families will be able to purchase, with all profits donated to breast cancer research. In addition the Bureau Valley High School volleyball team will host their pink night on October 13 with the freshman game at 5:00 pm in Manlius against Wethersfield.
Thank you for encouraging your child to participate as we learn the value of giving, kindness, and community spirit. Order forms are attached below and will be sent home in your child's book bag today. The forms are due on Monday, September 8th to the office. Together, we can make a difference!

Last night we celebrated our junior high baseball players for 8th Grade Night. 🎉 We’re so proud of this awesome group for their dedication, teamwork, and leadership both on and off the field. The team even got the win beating JFK 7-9! Way to go Storm!💙

Thank you for all the memories you’ve made — we can’t wait to see what’s next for each of you! We were missing Krew Sabin, one of our 8th graders, so we want to wish him the best of luck as well! 🙌

7th grader, Stevie Davis, was nominated by Mrs. Price to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. over the summer. She learned more leadership skills, met kids from all over the country and did some site-seeing, too! We are proud of you Stevie!

The Sauk Valley Community College Impact Program is offering FREE tutoring to middle-school students on Tuesdays from 3:00-5:00 pm for this fall semester! See the flyer attached for more information.

It is that time of year again, our High School Dance Team will be offering Storm Sweeties again this football season. It is open to all PreK-5th grade students and there will be a dance clinic on Sunday, September 14th from 1:00-2:30 and they will perform at the game on Friday, September 19th at halftime.
