Energized atoms emit light; each element has a characteristic color determined by the arrangement of its electrons. Chemistry students identify unknown chemicals using the distinctive colors.
Art 4 Seniors Ella Entas, Sterling Horner, Hope Richardson, Tommy Sullivan, and Grace Zeman have been busy painting a mural in the commons. Our goal is to have it complete by the first girls home basketball game on November 23rd.
12 Bureau Valley FFA members attended the Section 3 FFA Leadership Training School on November 10, 2021. Students heard a keynote address from State Reporter, Lauren Mohr, and participated in several workshops hosted by the Section 3 FFA Officer team and Section 5 President!
Congratulations to the Bureau Valley FFA Greenhand Quiz Bowl team! They have worked tirelessly to memorize FFA History and Facts and their hard work paid off last night as they will compete in the State Greenhand Competition in June!
Yesterday, Miss Johnston's fourth-hour Introduction to Agriculture class had some special visitors. The class was joined by Illinois FFA Reporter (Lauren Mohr), Section 3 President (Morgan Wirt), and Section 3 Sentinel (Tyler Croegaert).

The BVHS Drama Dept. welcomes audiences back to the auditorium on Fri. Nov. 12th at 7 pm, Sat., Nov. 13th at 7 pm, and Sun., Nov. 14th at 2 pm. Students will perform their own originally written adaptation of A Christmas Carol called Past. Present. Future_
Today Miss Johnston's Horticulture class had a guest speaker, Mr. Anderson. He came to class to discuss root structures. He shared some examples of both fibrous and tap root systems. Mr. Anderson even helped the class dig some soybeans to look at an example of a tap root!
This week in Earth Science - students put their “hurricane proof” houses to the test! A few roofs were lost, but all-in-all the students displayed great leadership and collaboration skills as they designed their houses with others.
We are excited to watch Elijah House compete at the 1A Cross Country State Finals on Saturday, Nov. 6th. Elijah will run at 10:00 at Detweiller Park in Peoria!
