Best of luck to Toby Behrends as she competes this evening in the District 1 FFA Public Speaking competition in Extemporaneous Speaking! In this challenging event, Toby will draw a topic on the spot, have just 30 minutes to prepare, and then deliver a 4-6 minute speech—no notes allowed! She’s one of only 10 competitors from across northwestern Illinois who advanced by placing in the top two at their Section contest. A win tonight means Toby will represent BV at the State FFA Convention in June—go, Toby!

Bureau Valley is proud to celebrate Payton Monier, who has been named a Silver Ranked 2025 Illinois FFA Chapter Reporter!
As Chapter Reporter, Payton has worked hard to keep our community informed—writing articles for local news, creating social media content, and highlighting the accomplishments of our FFA chapter.
As part of this honor, Payton will carry the American Flag during the Opening Session of the 97th Annual Illinois FFA State Convention this June in Springfield.
Way to go, Payton — your leadership and communication skills make us proud!

Exciting news for Bureau Valley FFA! Illinois Farm Bureau has announced the 2024-2025 Top 10 and Gold Standard Chapter FFA Presidents, recognizing just 19 leaders out of 380+ chapters across Illinois. We’re proud to share that Toby Behrends has been named a Gold Standard Chapter President, only the second BV FFA President to earn this honor! Toby will be recognized at the Illinois State FFA Convention on June 10th. Congrats, Toby!
