Big day for Bureau Valley FFA! 🌾 Today, they head to the Section 3 FFA Banquet, where schools from across the region come together! This event also includes the election and installation of the 2025-2026 Section 3 Officer Team. Best of luck to Payton Monier, Katrina Wahl, and Jennah Menerey as they run for officer positions. It’s a huge honor to represent BV at this level!

Congratulations to Toby Behrends for winning the District 1 FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest! 🎉 She impressed the judges with a powerful speech on urban encroachment, earning her a spot at the Illinois FFA State Convention on June 10. We’re so proud of her quick thinking, confidence, and ability to tackle complex ag issues on the spot. Way to represent BV, Toby! 💙💛

Western Civ students wrapped up their final topics of the semester with presentations that represented self-selected inquiries into topics across 20th Century Europe. They did a fantastic job with their research and led great discussions!

Students in American History II are wrapping up the Cold War! Students are currently designing a Cold War Instagram post to see how social media could have impacted the conflict!
What a night at the Brockman Invite! The Bureau Valley Boys took home the championship! The girls tied for 2nd with Kewanee, finishing just 1 point shy of the title!
Then, we combined forces to secure the Co-Ed Championship! Great weather, great competition, and GREAT PERFORMANCES across the board!

Best of luck to Toby Behrends as she competes this evening in the District 1 FFA Public Speaking competition in Extemporaneous Speaking! In this challenging event, Toby will draw a topic on the spot, have just 30 minutes to prepare, and then deliver a 4-6 minute speech—no notes allowed! She’s one of only 10 competitors from across northwestern Illinois who advanced by placing in the top two at their Section contest. A win tonight means Toby will represent BV at the State FFA Convention in June—go, Toby!

Bureau Valley is proud to celebrate Payton Monier, who has been named a Silver Ranked 2025 Illinois FFA Chapter Reporter!
As Chapter Reporter, Payton has worked hard to keep our community informed—writing articles for local news, creating social media content, and highlighting the accomplishments of our FFA chapter.
As part of this honor, Payton will carry the American Flag during the Opening Session of the 97th Annual Illinois FFA State Convention this June in Springfield.
Way to go, Payton — your leadership and communication skills make us proud!

Participants should wear softball pants or leggings, a BV shirt, and cleats or tennis shoes. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bat, glove, and water bottle.

Exciting news for Bureau Valley FFA! Illinois Farm Bureau has announced the 2024-2025 Top 10 and Gold Standard Chapter FFA Presidents, recognizing just 19 leaders out of 380+ chapters across Illinois. We’re proud to share that Toby Behrends has been named a Gold Standard Chapter President, only the second BV FFA President to earn this honor! Toby will be recognized at the Illinois State FFA Convention on June 10th. Congrats, Toby!
