The varsity Scholastic Bowl team went 2-1 last night at Kewanee, with wins over Newman (240-120) and Monmouth-Roseville (170-80). Princeton narrowly beat BV in Round 9 (190-180).
🔥 Pre-Vet student's latest lab delved into the calorimetry of two livestock feeds, setting the stage on fire to raise water temps and uncover the science behind animal nutrition. 🔥
🍔 Flavor sizzled, skills grilled! Mrs. Shimmin's Food Science class turned up the heat with a sizzling Burger Challenge. Teachers brought their taste buds to the table, judging the juiciest, perfectly-cooked masterpieces. 🍔
Physical Science students are using pulleys to demonstrate the conservation of energy and mechanical advantage. The ratio of the output force and input force gives the mechanical advantage, which can be confirmed by counting the number of supporting strings.
The Bureau Valley High School National Honor Society is hosting its annual Blood Drive through Impact Life in the school gymnasium on Wednesday, February 28th from 8:30AM-1:30PM. Students 16 years or older, staff, and community members are welcome to donate!

BVHS students competed in our schoolwide Poetry Out Loud competition this week. Students and community members alike enjoyed live poetry performances, trivia, coffee and sweet treats at Parlor Coffee in Sheffield. Congrats to Titus Cook (1st) and Alexis Butler (2nd).
High school band members started learning their secondary instruments today. Every Friday students will have the opportunity to learn from each other how to play a new instrument. #gostorm #bvmusic
Ms. Barnett's General Physical Education Class finished up the Tchoukball unit by participating in a Round Robin tournament ending two students who received awards. Aubrie taking home the Sportsmanship Award and Damian taking home the MVP! Congrats to all!

Adapted PE is back at it with one of our favorite units! 🎳
Physical Science students design and build a paper roller coaster utilizing Newton's laws of motion. They are able to also make calculations about speed and acceleration.
