Art 2 students are working hard on creating cardboard sculptures! 📦

🔬Pre-Vet - Cell Structure 🔬
Students in Pre-Vet created their own wet mount slides! Using these onion slides students compared plant and animal cells.

Students in Mrs. Shimmin’s Food Science class are learning about Food Preservation techniques such as salting, pickling, dehydrating, refrigerating, canning and more! Students had the chance to select a preservation technique and try it! Our chefs made pickles, dehydrated fruit, syrup, pickled jalapeños, apple sauce, and more!

The atomic weights of the elements are weighted averages calculated from the mass and percent abundance of the element's isotopes. Chemistry students are working to find the atomic weight of the element M&Mium, which exists as a mixture of peanut, regular, and mini isotopes.

Public Speaking students have been working on their career readiness unit. They have created resumes, cover letters, and prepared for mock interviews. Today they were interviewed by three professionals. Keegan Roth of John Deere, Scott Attig of Attig's Repair and Lisa Wilt of Bureau Valley High School. Tomorrow students will receive feedback and write thank you letters.

Physical Science students are working to prove the Impulse-Momentum Theorem. The product of the force on the car and the time the force acts must equal the product of the car's mass and velocity after it is launched.

Congratulations to Adriana Splitt on an outstanding performance at ILMEA District 2 band festival @ Augustana College this past Saturday on clarinet. This group was made up of 100 top performing students in our area. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job representing Bureau Valley!

Students in Mrs. Roth's Physical Science class have been learning about characteristics of various compounds. Here they have set up an investigation to test the pH level of various substances and determine if each is an acid, neutral, or a base. First students hypothesized the pH level based on what they have already learned and then determined if their hypothesis was correct using indicator strips and a color coded index.
