🧬 Intro to Ag - DNA Models 🧬
What are some ways that agriculturalists may use knowledge of DNA and genetics? The Agriscience Investigators in Mrs. Shimmin’s Intro to Ag class are exploring that question! Students constructed their own DNA models learning how DNA replicates, that Cytosine combines with Guanine, and Adenine combines with Thymine!

🥩 Food Science - What’s at Steak? 🥩
What better to conclude learning about USDA Beef Grading than making some steaks? Students in Food Science enjoyed some delicious ribeyes from the Wyanet Locker! While enjoying these they discussed marbling, temperature preferences, and more!

Last week, English III Honors students worked to complete character profiles for The Canterbury Tales. They had to mingle amongst themselves and find other characters who they could "friend" based upon each other's profiles. After everyone found their friends, they collaborated as a class to correctly fill in The Feudal Triangle. During Medieval times, society was structured according to a feudal system, where everyone was divided according to social and financial status. Students had to label the triangle, and decide where each character would belong according to their occupation and social standing.

🥩 Food Science - Quality vs. Yield 🥩
Did you know that beef is graded on a scale dependent on maturity and marbling? Students in Mrs. Shimmin’s Food Science have been learning about the process for United States Department of Ag Beef Grading! They put together a puzzle that ended up being the USDA Beef Grading Scale!

🍓Intro to Ag - Extracting DNA🍓
In further preparation to learn about plants, Mrs. Shimmin’s Intro to Ag students are learning about DNA! Students are extracting the DNA from a strawberry!
