🦠 What do Brucellosis, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, and Scrapie all have in common? They are all diseases found in livestock!
Students in Miss Johnston's Pre-Veterinary Studies course simulated the spread of disease! Using cups of water and one "diseased" cup students spread disease and then were able to use an indicator to
track who shared the disease first! If the water turned pink they were diseased! 🦠

🗺️ Do you know how a Global Positioning System (GPS) calculates an exact location? Trilateration! This involves using a series of three satellites to determine exact location. Students in Miss Johnston’s Intro to Ag used this same idea to find the coordinates of miscellaneous items to begin learning about how agriculturalists using GPS in precision agriculture! 🗺️





Bureau Valley High School retired teachers are welcomed to attend our end-of-year luncheon on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Last year's fellowship of retired and current BVHS teachers was a fun way to end the school year, and we look forward to the same this year!

📍Did you know that a township has 36 sections in it?! Miss Johnston's Intro to Ag students are learning about Legal Land Descriptions! Students staked their claim on their "land" and had to legally describe the land they claimed!📍




👨🍳 Miss Johnston's Food Science class competed in a Chopped Challenge judged by BVHS Staff! Students were tasked with creating a dish using Rice Krispies, Frozen Berries, Greek Yogurt, and Pasta. They create some masterpieces! 👨🍳









💙💛We had 11 members attend the Section 3 FFA Banquet. We celebrated the past year with FFA members from across the section, watched Ella Thacker and Josie Edlefson retire from their 2022-2023 section officer positions, and got to see Josie Edlefson, Nathan Siri, and Toby Behrends run for 2023-2024 section office. Congratulations to Toby who was elected as the 2023-2024 section sentinel!💛💙



🥩 Students in Miss Johnston's Food Science collaborated with Family and Consumer Science Advanced Foods students to have a cookout during class! Students enjoyed side dishes and ribeyes from the Wyanet Locker! 🥩





🗣Josie Edlefson and Toby Behrends competed at the District 1 Public Speaking LDE. Toby placed 4th overall in the extemporaneous category and Josie placed 2nd in prepared! Josie will be competing at state with her speech this June!🗣
