SouthLand Dairy Farmers brought Louise the Jersey cow to school today. We learned she is the second most popular dairy breed in the US and can produce 6-8 gallons of milk a day. Her milk is 100 degrees and the farmer cools it to 38 degrees until the truck comes to pick it up. It is then pastorized and on a shelf for us to buy in 3 days or less. Louise will eat about 60 pounds of feed a day and drink 35 gallons of water. She can hear up to 1/4 mile away and loves it when the weather is anywhere from 40 - 70 degrees.

Thanks to Mitchell Melons for coming to share their knowledge with our Garden Club! We were excited to learn about all the things involved in 90 days of growing melons. We were able to share our greenhouse out of water bottles and get some tips on growing our own watermelon.

Students are finishing up Foot Golf. Foot Golf is a combination of golf and soccer. The object is to get the lowest score at each hole. The students play the same rules as traditional golf except the soccer ball needs to land in the hula hoop. The students continue to work on a dynamic warm-up to improve flexibility, coordination and locomotor skills. while improving personal fitness.
