Chemistry students are using physical and chemical properties to classify different species as ionic compounds or covalent compounds. Melting point, solubility in water and in acetone, and conductivity are used to make the determination.

The Scholastic Bowl team advanced from the Regional quarterfinals with a win over Rockridge (480-250), but was knocked out in the semifinal round by Riverdale (450-270).

We are excited to share that we are a round two recipient of @American Library Association's Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities initiative. Walnut Public Library Director, Jaclyn Trujillo, applied for the $10,000 grant as a collaborative initiative to become a stronger community resource for all families served throughout the Bureau Valley School District. Bureau Valley School Librarian, Mary Heing, is excited for the new flexible seating opportunities amongst other new resources and tools that will be readily available for the young adults while visiting the library. Walnut Public Library will utilize round two funds and will continue to expand the resources available to the public utilizing remaining funds from being a round one recipient.


BVHS Regional Scholastic Bowl Update:
Monday, March 4th
BVHS will partcipate in the Port Byron (Riverdale) Regional this evening. Bureau Valley will open up playing Rockridge at 4:30. Good luck to all of our scholastic bowl students and coaches!

Great day at Monmouth- Roseville for solo and ensemble! We received 13 Division I ratings (superior) and 1 Division II rating. Proud of our kids and their hard work! Congratulations to Gavin D. and Eli A. who were "Best of Day" in their room! #gostorm #bvmusic










The BVHS National Honor Society hosted its annual blood drive through ImpactLife. A total of 45 units of blood were collected. Of the 45 units, 32 were 1st time donors! 135 lives were saved just by students and staff from Bureau Valley! Go Storm! ⚡️

Congrats to Bureau Valley's Connor Scott on being selected as a DAR Good Citizens recipient. He was recognized at a banquet today with other winners from Bureau County schools.

World History students learning about the importance of Art when studying the Renaissance period of European History.


TCI Manufacturing sent down one of their lead welders to assist students in welding class today. It was great to have his knowledge and expertise for some hands-on assistance. We are discussing some more visits in the future.

⚡BVHS has been able to provide each student with a Hygiene Kit funded by our Mental Health Grant. Bags were distributed at the end of last week and this week.⚡
Miss Warren, Mrs. Stoller, and Miss Golden would like to thank the following for helping prepare, put together, and distribute kits: Mrs. Krug, Ms. Gutshall, Mr. Schisler, Mrs. Clark, Mr. Przybyla, Kate Stoller, Lesleigh Maynard, Meghan Kalapp, Jordan Britt, Braelynn Patnoe, Madison Smith, Blake Helms, Daisy Villa, Jennah Menery, Boys Track, and Varsity Boys Basketball.




The shelter-in-place has been lifted at the Manlius Campus.

Students and staff at the Manlius Campus are currently sheltering in place due to the Tornado Warning. We are actively monitoring the situation and will continue to adhere to our weather protocols until further notice. Please stay safe and follow all instructions provided by the weather service.

Physical Science students are learning to use multimeters and the color coding scheme for resistors. The series of colored bands on the resistor can be used to determine its value, which is then confirmed using the multimeter.




The Forensics students are practicing their crime scene analysis skills. They process the mock crime scene and then learn how to analyze the evidence they gather. The evidence that they gather will help them solve the crime throughout the class this semester.
